Media advisory - Important ruling from the Supreme Court of Canada

MONTREAL, Feb. 16, 2012 - The Supreme Court of Canada's ruling in the case "S.L. v. Commission scolaire des Chênes (no 33678)" will be rendered this Friday, February 17 at 9:45 a.m.

This is the case in which parents in Drummondville with children in the public school system sought an exemption from the Ethics and Religious Culture program (ERC).

The mother of the children involved, along with Mark Phillips, Regional Leader of the Public Law Group at BLG's Montreal office and counsel for the parents will address the media.

Also in attendance will be representatives from the various organisations supporting the couple, notably the Coalition pour la liberté en éducation (CLÉ), the Regroupement chrétien pour le droit parental en éducation (RCDPE), the Association des parents catholiques du Québec (APCQ), as well as the Association de la Communauté Copte Orthodoxe du Grand Montréal (ACCOM).
